Frequently Asked Questions
What is IV hydration therapy?
IV Hydration Therapy is a quick and easy way to replenish your body with essential electrolytes, vitamins and minerals. The drips are directly infused into your vascular system, bypassing your digestive tract, where they are immediately and completely absorbed.
How long does it take to get an IV?
Typically it takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour to infuse a 1 liter bag of fluids.
If I’m pregnant, is it safe for me to receive IV hydration?
In most cases, yes it is completely safe and beneficial for mom and baby to receive IV hydration therapy. There are only a couple nutrients and medications that we offer that are pregnancy category B or C. If you have issues that are being monitored outside of a normal pregnancy, please contact your obstetrician (or ask us and we would be happy to!) to discuss if IV hydration is safe for you and baby to receive
How much does IV hydration cost?
A 1 liter bag of electrolyte rich fluids starts at $80 and prices go up from there. The (very) popular Myers Cocktail is $129- you can customize any of your drips with IV add-on’s (most cost $35). The full list and prices of our drips, add-on’s and injections are on the ‘Products & Pricing’ page
How long do the effects of IV hydration last?
The effects of IV nutrient hydration can last anywhere from 7 to 10 days, depending on several factors. If you're maintaining a healthy diet and drinking enough water, the effects may last longer. A basic hydration IV may not last as long as one that includes added vitamins or minerals, which may have longer-lasting benefits depending on your body's needs. Everyone is different and will experience the benefits at a different rate depending on lifestyle, activity level, hydration status and frequency of treatments.
I’ve been told I am a hard stick and/or my veins are hard to find
Our staff is skilled in finding small, rolling and hard to find veins. Additionally, Jen is very experienced in using an ultrasound and has been doing ultrasound guided IV lines for over a decade.
What are potential side effects for doing this procedure?
IV hydration is generally safe, but like most things in life, there are some potential side effects. The most common include:
- Mild swelling or redness at the injection site (due to needle insertion)
- Cool sensation in the arm where the IV is placed
- Slight discomfort or bruising at the IV site
At proactIV Hydration & Wellness, we thoroughly screen our patients through a health history intake form to ensure there are no health contraindications to receive any of the vitamin, nutrients and fluids we offer.
Do you offer mobile services and/or group rates?
We do offer mobile services and group rates for 4 or more people - just give us a call to set it up!
Do you take insurance? Can I use my HSA/FSA funds?
Generally speaking, elective IV hydration received at a spa, hydration clinic, or for general wellness (e.g., hangovers, athletic recovery, anti-aging) is usually not covered by insurance. Therefore, we unfortunately do not take insurance. However, FSA and/or HSA funds are eligible to be used for any of our services.
Do you require an appointment or am I able to walk-in?
We accept both appointments and walk-ins! While scheduling an appointment ensures minimal wait time and availability for your preferred treatment, walk-ins are always welcome during our business hours.
