GLP Injections
To ensure you are an appropriate and safe candidate for GLP injections, we require baseline lab work prior to starting treatment. We can accept lab work completed within the past 3 months. If you do not have recent labs, we are happy to draw them in our clinic for your convenience. The required lab work includes the following: a Complete Metabolic Panel (CMP), Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), Hemoglobin A1C, Lipase level, and a Lipid Panel.
How do these medications help with weight loss?
They Work By:
- Reducing appetite
- Increasing fullness
- Slowing gastric emptying
- Improving insulin sensitivity
- Reducing food cravings
Most patients report they feel “less food noise.”
Semaglutide vs. Tirzepatide
Semaglutide:
- GLP-1 receptor agonist only
- Mimics glucagon-like peptide-1
- Increases insulin secretion
- Slows gastric emptying
- Reduces appetite
- ~12–15% average body weight reduction
- ~1.0–1.5% reduction in HgbA1c
Tirzepatide:
- Dual GIP + GLP-1 receptor agonist
- Activates:
- GLP-1 receptor
- GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) receptor
- Results in enhanced insulin response and additional metabolic effects
- Tirzepatide works on two incretin pathways, semaglutide works on one.
- ~18–22% average body weight reduction
- Some patients achieved 25%+ in trials
- Tirzepatide generally produces greater weight loss.
- ~2.0–2.5% reduction in HbgA1c
Side effects are similar for both:
- Nausea
- Constipation
- GLP-1 receptor
- Bloating
- Decreased appetite
- Mild fatigue
Side effects are usually temporary and improve with slow titration.
When taking GLP-1 medications, appetite naturally decreases — which means many patients unintentionally eat and drink far less than their body actually needs. Prioritizing adequate protein intake and consistent hydration is essential to support healthy weight loss and protect lean muscle mass.
Without enough protein, patients may experience increased fatigue, muscle loss, slowed metabolism, hair thinning, and prolonged recovery after exercise. Inadequate hydration can worsen common GLP-related side effects such as nausea, constipation, dizziness, headaches, and low blood pressure.
Staying intentional about protein and fluids helps ensure weight loss comes primarily from fat — not muscle — and helps your body tolerate treatment more comfortably and safely.
Our GLIP drip is designed for patients undergoing medically supervised weight management therapy. During treatment, appetite changes and rapid weight loss can impact hydration, energy levels, and nutrient intake.
This infusion helps support:
- Hydration
- Energy production
- Muscle preservation
- Metabolic function
All therapies are administered under medical supervision.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much weight can I expect to lose?
Results vary, but clinical averages show:
- Semaglutide: ~12–15% body weight reduction
- Tirzepatide: ~18–22% body weight reduction
Individual results depend on dose, lifestyle, and adherence.
How long does it take to see results?
- Appetite reduction often starts within 1–2 weeks.
- Visible weight loss usually begins within 4–6 weeks.
- Max results typically occur over 6–12 months.
Do I have to stay on this forever?
These medications treat a chronic metabolic condition.
Stopping abruptly often leads to:
- Return of appetite
- Gradual weight regain
Some patients transition to maintenance dosing long term. Ask us about our additional weight management injections that contain amino acids and B vitamins designed to support muscle retention, boost energy levels, enhance fat burning, and promote a healthy metabolism.
What are serious but rare risks?
- Pancreatitis
- Gallbladder disease
- Severe GI intolerance
- Thyroid C-cell tumor risk (seen in rodents)
These medications are not recommended for patients with:
- Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma
- MEN2 syndrome
Hydration and adequate protein intake are essential while taking GLP-1 injections. In addition to thorough education and counseling on nutrition and exercise, we’ve developed a specialized GLP “GLIP” drip designed to support hydration, energy production, muscle preservation, and overall metabolic function during treatment.
What happens if I miss a dose?
If within 4 days of your scheduled injection, take it as soon as possible.
If more than 4 days have passed, skip and resume your regular schedule.
Do I need to change my diet?
Yes — for best results:
- Prioritize protein
- Stay hydrated
- Eat smaller portions
- Avoid overeating fatty foods (to reduce nausea)
These medications are tools, not magic.
Will I lose muscle?
Rapid weight loss can lead to muscle loss if protein intake is inadequate.
We recommend:
- High-protein diet
- Resistance training
- Adequate hydration
Ask us about our GLP (glip) drip: designed for patients undergoing medically supervised weight management therapy. During treatment, appetite changes and rapid weight loss can impact hydration, energy levels, and nutrient intake.
This infusion helps support:
- Hydration
- Energy production
- Muscle preservation
- Metabolic function
Can I drink alcohol?
Alcohol tolerance often decreases.
Excess alcohol can worsen:
- Nausea
- Dehydration
- Blood sugar swings
- Also increases dehydration
Moderation is strongly advised.
What happens when I reach my goal weight?
Options include:
- Maintenance dosing
- Dose reduction
- Transitioning to lifestyle-only maintenance
- Ongoing metabolic support
Why should I come into the clinic for these injections when I can just get them online?
- In our clinic setting, our care includes a comprehensive evaluation, appropriate lab work, medication review, and ongoing monitoring to ensure you are a safe candidate and responding appropriately to treatment. We assess contraindications, adjust dosing based on tolerance and progress, and are available to address side effects or concerns in real time.
- When medications are obtained online without proper medical oversight, there may be limited screening, minimal follow-up, and less transparency regarding sourcing and quality control.
- We source our medications from reputable, properly vetted pharmacies to ensure purity, verified potency, sterility testing, and stability data all meet established industry standards.
Why do I need labs?
Do I need to come into the clinic each week for my injection, or can I take them home?
You will need to come into the clinic weekly for your injection. This allows us to monitor your progress and assess for any potential side effects to ensure your treatment is going smoothly. For your convenience, we are open 7 days a week and no appointment is needed for injections—you are welcome to walk in at any time.
